Safe Harbor International Projects
Uganda
Midigo – Support
Calvary Chapel of Midigo, Uganda – This church is being pastored by Dr. Emuku Juventine. In addition to being the pastor of a growing church, he is also our full time medical director and the administrator of our hospital in Midigo. Starting with himself and one other person, Pastor Emuku has been used by the Lord to build a vibrant and growing church that has outgrown the small one room mud church building that they are currently occupying. Midigo is an area that is over 95% Muslim, however Pastor Emuku has dedicated his life to loving the people of this area and demonstrating the love of Christ to them all. Many have responded by giving their lives to Jesus Christ. Pastor Emuku is also aided in the medical profession and ministry by his wife Elizabeth who is also a doctor and ministers at church with the women. They have a baby girl named Jamima and together the three of them live at the Safe Harbor mission station about 8 miles from the border with Sudan.
Midigo Hospital and Carol Maternity Ward Project – This project has been in operation since 1999 providing Primary health at the existing government hospital building. It is being enhanced to provide better services to a large population in the remote region of Midigo Uganda. Construction has been completed of the new Hospital and Carol Maternity ward. Equipment is not yet installed.
Project Luke – Christ centered training of Medical Assistants. Students are transported from the Western Upper Nile Medical Project region to Midigo Uganda. Dr. Emuku facilitates their training in Primary Health Care. Once trained the Medical Assistants return to their area and are able to assist the local community in Primary Health Care. In 2006 this project will be expanded to include training of Nyinbuli Project personnel.

Increasing the population. With only one water well for 50,000 people, and a river that has run dry every April, there is an immediate need to save lives. Update 2006. Currently 5 wells have been dug in Nyinbuli. A small Medical Clinic is under construction as well. The team was inserted in Feb. 2006.
Nyinbuli Update
While Charity and Cindy have undergone considerable trials this past year, they continue to remain faithful to their call to serve the people of Nyinbuli, Sudan. Due to the insecurities associated with their work in Nyinbuli, we are thankful to be transferring the care of Charity and Cindy into the hands of International Aid Services, who is strategically located to provide the necessary protective covering. Safe Harbor remains faithful in prayer and will offer continued support as needs arise. Please pray for Charity and Cindy as they transition into the care of IAS, and that their work would continue to bear much fruit in the face of persecution.

Kenya
Gladys Fund
We wanted to personally thank those who have given generously to help Gladys recover. We have heard from our staff in Nairobi that Gladys is beginning to show some slight improvement. She has calmed down enough to begin to play with her little sister again and is even beginning to show some care for her. In the past they could not allow Gladys near her little sister because she would inadvertently hurt her. She is also responding to some spoken words. The doctors are cautiously optimistic and said they have to teach Gladys’ brain to function again.
The other good news is that she is completely cured of her TB and meningitis! While we praise the Lord for her progress we need continued prayer for a complete healing.
The outpouring of compassion for her is so encouraging. We are going to create a Gladys fund to help others just like her who would die or be seriously debilitated due to lack of medical care. It is our heart to begin to staff a nurse at the Hope Mission School in Nairobi to help to prevent other situations like Gladys’s from occurring again. Any excess of funds that we have in the future in Gladys’s account will go into the Gladys fund for this purpose.

Vietnam
Over 40 church leaders met in a small room in Vietnam for a three day pastor’s conference in the wake of two devastating typhoons that destroyed all of their homes and crops. God gave Safe Harbor the opportunity to minister through His Word to pastors who were suffering and who would be returning to congregations that had also lost most of their possessions. By God’s grace, the time was filled with joy, worship, prayer and standing in awe of our sovereign Lord. These pastors shared of the extreme persecution they faced over the last few years and prayed for each other and the persecuted church throughout the world.
Through God’s provision, Safe Harbor was able to deliver relief facilitated through the local church in Vietnam. Our persecuted brothers and sisters were able to meet some of the needs of other Christians, unbelievers, and even those who persecuted the church severely for over a decade. Bridges were built as the Lord used typhoon relief to soften the hearts of those persecuting the church. Many of the pastors said that the relief enabled the Christians to meet with government leaders, for the first time, without being interrogated, beaten, or imprisoned.
